União Europeia diz que Dlhakama morreu num tempo de grandes desafios para Moçambique

Maputo (Canalmoz) – A Delegação da União Europeia em Moçambique, num comunicado, lamenta a morte de Afonso Dhlakama, na semana passada.

Segundo a União Europeia, Afonso Dhlakama morreu num tempo de grandes desafios para Moçambique, em que desempenhou um papel histórico no processo que culminou no Acordo de Paz de Roma, de 1992, e foi um interveniente fundamental na transição democrática do país.

“A sua determinação ficou mais uma vez demonstrada ao empenhar-se nas negociações de paz e reconciliação com o Presidente Nyusi, que se iniciaram em 2016. A UE apresenta as suas condolências à família e aos amigos do Presidente da Renamo, Afonso Dhlakama, e a todos os moçambicanos que hoje lamentam a sua perda”, lê-se no comunicado.

A  União Europeia incentiva o Governo e a Renamo a continuarem com o seu compromisso firme e sustentado, para que seja rapidamente alcançado um acordo global para uma paz duradoura.

“A União Europeia continuará a apoiar Moçambique no rumo da paz e da prosperidade para todos os seus cidadãos”, conclui o documento. (Redacção)
